The Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus 35 is a long-keeled centre-cockpit yacht with a fixed windscreen. Although a genuine sailing yacht she also has a powerful diesel. This is one of the last built, and is in remarkably good condition for her age. She is well equipped for cruising with bow thruster, wind generator, davits for dinghy and has had synthetic teak decks fitted.

The forecabin has two vee-berths each 84" long "on the vee" with an infill making the berth a double 78" fore and aft and also 78" at it's widest aft. Saloon headroom is just over 72" aft, dropping to 69" forward by the heads.
The saloon table can drop to make another double 80" by 40". Eberspacher blown hot air heating is installed. The item wrapped in plastic on a bracket on the bulkhead is a TV set, unused by the present owner.
The Rasmus 35 was designed by Olle Enderlein, whose other designs included many Hallberg-Rassy, plus yachts for Swan, Najad and Shipman. The first two Rasmus 35s were built by Christophe Rassy in mahogany in around 1967, but from hull no 3 the yachts were entirely GRP, with solid laminated hulls, and decks with vinyl core material. These were probably the first sailing yachts to have fixed glass windscreens, a design feature that has since become a feature of many Scandinavian yachts. The earlier Rasmus 35s were thus Rassys, not Hallberg-Rassys.
In 1972 Christophe Rassy bought out Harry Hallberg’s competing boatyard in Ellös. As the Hallberg brand was by far the most well-known with its four designs and the Rassy yard only had the Rasmus, the new company was named Hallberg-Rassy.
760 Rasmus 35s were made during twelve years between 1967 and 1978. The name "Rasmus" is the God of Winds in Germany. The boats were offered with sloop or ketch rigs, and a choice of a full fixed wheelhouse top with a wheel under the wheelhouse, or just windscreen and sprayhood with a wheel aft in the cockpit. Hulls were also sent to the UK to Freeman Yachts, who fitted them out and sold them as Nab 35s, all with fixed wheelhouse.
The Rasmus 35 stayed in production until around 1979/80, by which time the Hallberg-Rassy 352 had appeared, another long-running model which was beamier, and thus managed to fit in an internal access to the aft cabin. The 352 was also a fin and skeg hull instead of a long keel.
This yacht is a Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus 35, hull no 709, with sloop rig and windscreen plus a full "camper" canvas cockpit canopy. She has been re-engined with a Yanmar, and fitted with a Vetus bowthruster. She has a good inventory and the decks, which were probably originally teak, were refinished with synthetic teak in 2010/11.
Yanmar 4JH4E 4-cylinder 2.19 litre diesel, freshwater cooled. Engine hours probably under 1,000, as reportedly 560 hours in early 2018. Hour counter display not working - as is almost universal with these Yanmar and Volvo units after a few years. This engine model was manufactured from 2004 to 2006.
